Product Description:
K&N HP-1010 Oil Filter
Originally developed for demanding auto race applications, our premium oil filter is rapidly becoming a favorite among consumers for its durability and easy removal. We've changed oil filters and several of our product development technicians are sportsman class drag racers. They insisted we offer an oil filter that corrected the headaches they experienced over the years changing oil filters. We have all been there: Whether it's remembering where that disappearing canister tool is; or having oil leak all over your garage and yourself; or finally giving up and pounding a screwdriver through the filter just to get if off. Each of our automotive and marine oil filters comes with a 1 nut welded to the top of the canister so they can be easily wrenched-off with a standard tool. Our motorcycle and ATV oil filters come with a 17 mm nut. Our oil filters use resin impregnated cellulose filter media. This allows for higher flow rates while providing outstanding filtration. High filter flow rates are important in racing vehicles where heavier grade oil is used and the oil is pumped much faster than in a standard vehicle. When the engine is circulating oil at high GPM rates, the high-flow oil filter helps reduce the loss of pressure through the filtering process. To satisfy the demands of racers, our oil filter has many features over and above the requirements of most vehicles. We use thicker canister walls for extra strength and durability which reduces the risk of damage from loose rocks and debris. The heavy-duty construction will withstand higher oil pressures found only in racing environments without bursting. The drilled hole on the nut is for a safety wire attachment. Required for many types of racing, the safety wire prevents blown oil filters from falling on the track and representing a hazard to other race vehicles. This extra engineering offers peace of mind for consumers who want only the best.

Another Excellent K&N Product - Easy to Install and Excellent Quality (2010-05-25) Rating: 5/5
I have used K&N products on my 2004 Corvette and have had excellent results. When my son asked what type of oil filter would be "the best" for his Honda Civic, I immediately looked for a K&N HP-1010 Oil Filter. I was fortunate to find one at a local dealer, but was surprised at the high markup. I am pleased to find them available on Amazon at a reasonable price for the value.
Installation is a snap. The bolt shaped end makes installation and removal simple. I was impressed with the high quality ring and diaphragm. The filter can is very thick, able to withstand all of the problems a gravel road can throw at it.
The only drawback is the price. However, the thicker metal on the can and the durability makes it a deal for my situation. Others also use the K&N HP-1010 Oil Filter for racing and other uses.
One of the Best oilfilters from one of the best airfilter makers (2010-05-11) Rating: 5/5
K&N oil filters are created by Champion Labs, the same makers of mobil1 oil filters, so performance wise, they are exactly the same. However, mobil1 oil filters are rated as one of the top performing oilfilters around. This K&N version offers a 1 inch nut at the end for easy removal which i find super convenient, no more having to be frustrated with using brute strength to twist it off with my hands. Also, the filter media (which filters out 99% of impurities) is treated with a heat-cured resin so all the pores will stay open in high stress/heat conditions. truly a great product, and amazon sells it for only $10!
Perfect (2009-09-21) Rating: 5/5
I haven't dissected the filter so I can't speak to the internal workings but this seems like a good quality filter. I usually used the Mobil 1 M1-110 but this one is far and away better just because of the standard wrench removal. Any 1 inch open or closed ended wrench will work. I actually had to remove the skid plate from my Frontier to get the 110 off because I couldn't find a wrench that fit the tiny little filter. Flow rate seems good, I'd stick with this one.
great filter for the money (2009-07-11) Rating: 5/5
I purchase this oil filter for infiniti M45 and infiniti G35 and have used them on the civic Si, Rx-8, and nissan 95 240sx with a sr20det s14 VTC type. I keep them around because they work on a plethora of engines: honda K20/24 & J30 V6, Rx-8's rotary, Nissan S14 SR20det, VQ35/37/40, VK45, VR38DETT, mitsubishi 4b11 (evo X) and 4g63(evo 8/9/ eclipse) and many more.
The nut is a life saver in tight spaces, and especially on the new 2006+ civics Si which have a very tight and confined installation space. As for filtering i've taken an old one apart and noted the filter media is very high quality i'd say as good or maybe better than most oem filters.
I recommend it, it's a good filter just to keep around/ have since it works on just about anything my friends have.

I've always been a fan of K&N products ever since I put a cool air intake on a 01 Dodge Ram 1500. I really couldn't get the gas mileage up but the proclaimed extra hoarse power was definitely there. I bought my wife a 05 jeep wrangler with a 4.0 liter and every time the oil gets changed the oil is cleaner. And I also put a drop air filter in it as well. And yes more hoarse power. So I recommend using K&N products for what ever car/truck you have. They are more expensive but so are vehicles.
