Great light, short life, as advertised (2010-08-24) Rating: 3/5
Consistent with the information on the back of the package that shows the comparative strengths and weaknesses of each of the bulb types, the Ultra High Performance gives outstanding light performance, down the road, to the sides...you name it. The light that comes from these bulbs is noticeably whiter and brighter than any other halogen bulbs. But also, as shown on the back of the package, on a scale of 1 to 5 bars, the bulb life of this type only rates 1 bar, and it's lived up to that rating as well.

Unfortunately, none of the inferior types of 9006 bulb rates more than 2 bars on life, except the lowly Standard type, which offers the poorest light performance but 5 bars on life. And because I REALLY don't like removing the battery to change the driver's side bulb, I'm opting for long life after replacing these far too frequently. If you don't mind changing (or paying to change) your bulbs frequently, this is a great option; but for me, 3 stars is all I can give a bulb with such a short life, even with superb lighting.

Sylvania halogen headlights are a great replacement for OEM headlight bulbs. I highly recommend them. They are MUCH brighter and illuminating than the standard OEM replacement bulbs. The negatives are that they are more expensive and won't last nearly as long as the OEM bulbs. However, I believe the trade-off is well worth it; especially when safety is a major concern. I drive with the lights on during the daytime as well as the nighttime and other drivers notice me immediately. I haven't been disappointed with these headlight bulbs.

The silverstar ultra bulbs are very bright. I put them on my 83 yr old fathers suburban for added saftey. You will notice a big difference from stock bulb. The price on amazon was 2 bulb pack for about the price of 1 bulb from local parts store. Only 4 stars due to reduced bulb life...they won't last as long. You may want to carry a spare bulb in vehicle if you do a lot of night driving.
Good lights, but burn out like clockwork (2010-07-13) Rating: 3/5
These lights really enhance visibility over standard headlight bulbs, but they are virtually guaranteed to burn out quickly. It even tells you that on the box. One of the two just burned out less than a month after the 12-month guarantee period Sylvania claims on the box, and that's with under 6000 miles of driving. That said, I'm either going to buy them again and suck up the fact that they will have to be replaced every year, or I will look into an HID conversion. I can't wait until LED is good enough for headlights.

Bottom line, I think it's crazy not to have this kind of visibility at night, even if it costs $30/year. And please DO get Sylvania to replace your bulbs if either one burns out sooner! I've done it before, and it usually takes just a phone call or email.

I live in a rural state, where many areas don't have good lighting. These lights are a lot brighter than my OEM Silverado bulbs. The only issues is that they don't last long, as many other state. I think that's a decent trade off, for how much light they throw off, though.

I don't drive my truck too much at night, but when I do, I can trust these lights to guide my way, and light up the road well. I'd recommend these, but know that they don't last as long as the OE bulbs.
